Description
The Seoul Olympics .925 sterling silver coins (5000 won & 10000 won) were issued over a 3 year period - starting in 1986. A total of 8 silver 5000 and 8 silver 10000 won coins were minted. The 5000 won coins contain ½ troy ounce of silver - the 10000 won coins contain 1 troy ounce of silver. This set includes two coins from series 4 minted in 1988 - the 5000 won Korean wrestling/ssirum coin & the 10000 won cycling coin. Both coins are mirror finish. See the photos of the COAs for other specifications. Both coins have the same design on the back - the emblem of the Republic of Korea surrounded by five roses of Sharon - the national flower of Korea. Both are enclosed in hard plastic coin capsules contained in a 4 ½" x 2 3/4" hinged presentation case. The COAs are kept in a ribbon inset on the inside of the top cover. I cannot actually tell what the presentation case is covered with - some sort of blue leather-like vinyl I would guess - with the Seoul Olympic emblem on the top. The outer white cardboard sleeve is scuffed on the edges & discolored in places. See extra photos of the case & sleeve. The coins themselves look like they have some light haze - front & back- see photos. Overall, everything is in very good condition.Additional note: Mirror proof coins/medals have a shiny reflective background. Some photos taken of mirror proof coins or medals may appear to have a blackish or grayish/black background because of the camera angle chosen to highlight the design & any surface imperfections.
