These come out of new radios that we have in such great quantity, we could never hope to sell all of them, so we strip the radio down and sell the parts. If you've ever tried to buy radio parts at a dealership, you know it's usually not possible to get them. In fact, you'll find the dealer knows very little about the radios. That's because they don't sell the parts or even service them. They send them off to an authorized center. The service centers are usually the only ones who have the parts and they don't sell to the general public. That's radically different from most vehicle parts. And it's also why a part like this might look different from a part you'd go to their counter and order. -- Unlike a stereo you would get at Best Buy, for instance, this does not come in a fancy box with instructions. Most OEM radio parts are this way.

    APPLICATIONS
    This drive should work in many 2000-2002 GM cars and mini-vans. (Additional applications
    are
    possible.)
    If in doubt, do yourself a favor and pop the top off the radio so you can make sure the top of the drive looks like the one pictured.
    *The drive will also have some numbers stamped on them (in ink) that are not pictured here and it might have foam strip adhered to it that was used to eliminate case vibrations.
    In rare instances, you may find that replacing the drive does not solve your problem. Occasionally one of the boards is bad inside the radio and, if this is the case, replacing the drive will not change anything. This is very rare but we have seen it a couple times.
    We take these drives out of radios we have stored in a climate-controlled warehouse in such quantity, we'll never sell them all whole. So we strip them and sell them for parts, because the drive is used in other radios. Since there are holes in the tops of the radio cases and warehouses are dirty and dusty, the drive may appear dingy. However, we make sure the laser is clean and we do test each drive before it ships out. Please don't assume you received a used drive, just because it's not sparkling clean. Check our feedback. We're reliable.
    Assembly is fairly easy but we do not include written instructions. You shouldn't be performing this repair if you're not qualified. Most radios need dis-assembled in a certain order to keep from damaging other components.
    Do not attempt this repair with the radio still plugged in!
