The 3.5mm auxiliary input will be hard-wired into your stereo unit's audio circuitry, therefore providing a connection with the best and clearest sound quality possible to your factory Mercedes audio system. You may expect a digital-like quality through this auxiliary input. Although the input is hard-wired into the circuitry, the process is completely reversible.
The auxiliary input shares the cassette player's audio channel. You select the auxiliary input audio source by pressing the "TAPE" button on the stereo unit. All cassette player features remain fully functional.
No dummy tape cassette is required to operate the AUX input for the Becker (Made in Germany) models, and one is provided for the Alpine (Made in Japan) models.
The auxiliary input is approximately 3 feet long. You may choose either a male or female input terminal depending on your application or preference. However, we DO NOT recommend the female terminal for use with Android devices due to the presence of static noise reported by some of our customers. To minimize the wear and tear on the AUX cable and jack, we recommend connecting the jack to a car Bluetooth audio adapter or a short 3.5mm extension cord, which can be easily replaced if it wears out over time. The turnaround time for the procedure is 1-2 days. We guarantee our workmanship for as long as you own your radio!
